20+ Years of Service and Counting
Dr. Christopher Harvey is an East Austin, Texas native and product of the Austin Independent School District. He graduated from “The One and Only”, LBJ High School Science Academy and went on to obtain an Advanced Bachelors of Social Work from Texas State University, a Masters of Education in Education Administration from Concordia University Texas, and a Doctorate of Education from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
Dr. Christopher Harvey is a leader in public education campus administration, teacher/administrator leadership development, program design/evaluation, building community/business partnerships, and enforcing state/federal guidelines. |
Currently, Dr. Harvey is on a special assignment for Manor ISD, which includes in building academic partnerships with companies like Dell, Samsung, AIRCO, AUTM, and more.
Over the last 4 years, Dr. Harvey served as the proud Principal of the Manor Alternative Program where he worked to end the school-to-prison pipeline through restorative justice practices, teaching at-risk students academic, social, and behavioral skills, preparing students for college, career, and/or military readiness, providing enrichment activities and family education workshops. In just two-years his team reduced discretionary discipline placements for the entire district by 49%.
Over the last decade he was built, managed, and improved programs in Manor ISD in the following areas: School Transformation and Turnaround (Middle School, High School, & Alternative Education) Research, Internships, Early College High School, Career and Technical Education, College and Career Readiness, Academic Interventions, Improvement Planning, Family Engagement, Grants, and Federal & State Program.
He works part-time as an adjunct professor for Texas State University and Concordia University each semester. He also owns and operates a consultancy firm.
He has studied education in several states in the US, particularly in poverty stricken areas. Including traveling to study education in Belgium, Germany, Netherlands, and France, where I also presented and served on a panel discussions.
He has presented at many local, state, and regional conferences. His last few major speaking opportunities were at Texas Association of School Administrators MidWinter Conference (2019), Texas Council of Administrators of Special Education Conference (2019), National Educators for Restorative Practices (2018) Central Texas African-American Family Support Conference (2019), National Council on Educating Black Children 2013 (Chicago), Dream Deferred by College Board (2013), and a 2013 poster presentation acceptance by College Board (New York).
In addition, Councilman Harvey was elected to serve the City of Manor in the City Council, Place 3 position on November 5, 2019. His areas of focus are Infrastructure, Economic Development, Family & Community Engagement, Job Training/Creation & Workforce Development, Recreation/Arts, and Long-range Strategic Planning.
Chris is married to his wife Shaneen. They enjoy date nights, movies, and spending time with their 3 beautiful girls.
